| Title Still in Progress
Prologue The Mana Cannon phased through my flesh as easily as a steaming knife through butter. As the upper half of my torn body floated through the air, my still conscious mind was adrift in thought. Why does it end this way? Will righteous justice not be served?! Am I being forsaken for casting aside my humanity? I've only done all of this so I could achieve the power to revenge my love. The universe is a cruel mistress. "Illia," the man gasped, "I've failed you..." The man's torso clumped onto the floor lifeless, the blood finally beginning to ooze from his wounds. * * * This is all I have at the moment and I'm working on the rest. I'll probably post each chapter in one post for convience. That is, if anyone bothers to read this at all. Feel free to provide PRODUCTIVE CRITISM ONLY!!!! if you have any. So please, refrain from the spam. | |

| Thank you for the comment.Chapter One Kaisar rarely sleeps. His work is far too important to be done by others. Yes, the others in the laboratory, filled to the brim with intelligence equivalent to the very mice they use in their petty experiments. Ha! He laughed at them in his mind. Those insignificant fools! How could they even be here? No wonder the High Emperor Wyrm wanted to hire me so eagerly; his empire is full of imbeciles! Kaisar was an elegant man, with silvery-white hair, down to his shoulders, and black half-rimmed glasses. He'd be furiously working at some new machine, but he currently had no assignment. Kaisar reclined back into his lab chair. Without anything to do, he drifted into the realm of memory. He recalled the first day he came to this dull place, accompanied by two others who were also called for. * * * "Why are you here?" asked the opposing figure of Glyvern Wyrm, supreme High Emperor of Zolphax. He was addressing three men who were standing side-by-side at the foot of the steps leading to his throne. "You called for us," replied the man standing to the right, with silvery-white hair and black half-rimmed glasses. "Ah, then state your names, so I can match them to your faces," boomed Wyrm, "For this is the first time I've seen you all in the flesh. The man with the silvery-white hair stepped forward and dropped to one knee. "I am Kaisar," he replied, "World-class scientist slash engineer." The man to the left of him walked up in front of Kaisar, facing Wyrm. He was of a slight muscular build, like a swimmer, and had blue hair with a streak of white, directly in above his forehead between the eyes, emerging from his roots to the ends of his hair. His face was mangled with scars, several of them crossing underneath the eye patch covering his left eye. "And I am Garliem A. K. MacDowell," he spat, "ex-commander of Marzukelia's Imperial Army." The final man walked forward. He was dressed in all black, except for the white mask he wore. "My name is X," said the man, obviously trying to be mysterious. He uttered no more. "Well Kaisar, you are appointed to the head of the science branch. I shall send my most important problems to you to solve," said Wyrm, "I give this honor to you for you are renowned in your field as 'The Best of the Best' and I have complete faith in you." He turned towards Garliem and addressed him, "I know not of your accomplishments in real battle, so I appoint you to lieutenant in my army. If you are accomplished, you will move up the ranks quickly." Wyrm finally turned upon the masked man X. Glaring at him he boomed, "You are to leave, for you have no use for me." "What?!" cried X, obviously losing his cool, mysterious demeanor, "You call me here from my home across the world to just throw me away as trash?! I am a skilled warrior! I could be a most excellent bodyguard for you! I don't understa--" "Silence!" yelled Wyrm with obvious glee, "You, my bodyguard? Fool! I have my own bodyguard, who's far more accomplished than you!" It was impossible to tell what X was feeling, since it was hard to read one who had a mask on. "Glasgov! Come forward, your master commands you!" A man wearing blue plated armor glided out of the shadows to the right of them. It was strange how no one knew he was there, for his hair was startlingly white. So white that it seemed to glow. How was he able to avoid detection? "I have no master," the man named Glasgov said discourteously, "Neither am I your bodyguard. I am gathering from the proceeds of this meeting that I am to test this child's ability to fight?" "I'm no child!" spat out X, obviously fuming at the way things were going. "No Glasgov, you are not to test him," said Wyrm with an ever increasing smile that chilled the bones, "Vogsalg shall test him!" "You are a fool to kill one so young in the world," Glasgov said emotionlessly, "I shall not be held responsible for what happens!" He grew eerily quiet. It seemed Glasgov was in a trance. Kaisar had heard of the name Vogsalg before. He shuddered as a sense of dread from mentioning the name passed over him. Glasgov seemed to change. His hair was now a dull grey, and his eyes a bright red. His face contorted into a menacing smile. "I see it's time for me to play," he cried venomously, "with a little gnat, frustrated at the world!" The man let loose a heartless, maniacal laughter. It echoed throughout the empty hall of the throne room. Kaisar then realized that this must be Vogsalg. It also occurred to him, why the thought of his name sent dread into him. This evil soul, standing in front of them, was the only being on this planet to have ever learned to use the Mana Cannon. | |

| This chapter's kinda short.Chapter Two Vogsalg rushed toward X, conjuring a scimitar from seemingly nowhere. X was quick to reply, unsheathing his two katana and blocking Vogsalg's strike. The battle seemed to go on for an hour, neither side gaining an upper hand. X, however, was panting heavily. The two ran toward each other, and slashed forward. Blood could be seen flying through the air and hitting the ground. It was Vogsalg's. Kaisar grew disappointed, for he was looking forward to Vogsalg doing something. Kaisar, after all needed to field test his new gadget. It seems Vogsalg knew what Kaisar wanted for he laughed and backed away from X. He wedged the scimitar into the ground and stood there with his feet spread apart. Both of his hands were by his side, like he was holding an orb. Particles of light moved toward the hands. No, these weren't particles of light, it was fragments of mana itself. X obviously didn't know what was happening, for he took this frightening turn of events as an opening and rushed toward Vogsalg with the intent to kill. "You fool!" Kaisar shouted at the top of his lungs. Vogsalg grinned maniacally as the mana formed into a massive ball of light. He pushed the ball forward and shot a massive beam towards X, the dreaded Mana Cannon. Quickly destroying the mana in front of it, the Mana Cannon flew at incredibly fast speeds towards X. Kaisar seized this opportunity. He leapt in front of X and threw an arrow shaped device into the ground in front of them. A field of green light enveloped them. The Mana Cannon hit this field and broke apart into two beams, casually missing the two men standing in the field. "Enough!" shouted Wyrm, "Vogsalg, you are done." Vogsalg bowed at this and went into a trance. The color of his hair and eyes returned to their normal colors. It seemed Glasgov was back. "Take X to his new quarters," mumbled Wyrm. Kaisar felt successful, his all-purpose energy field could block the Mana Cannon! It was invigorating to realize this! X, however was not so happy. "Why did you interfere?!" X spat out. He went to slice Kaisar in the back. Kaisar's manner changed and he cast the blade aside, grabbed X's arm and flung him down to the ground. A short spear materialized in front of his hand and he placed it on X's neck, nearly piercing his skin. "I saved you from imminent demise!" Kaisar yelled, "This is how you repay me?" His eyes grew cold. "Well fine then, when you are about to die, don't count on my assistance! I'll let you be, with your pitiful charade of trying to be 'mysterious and cool,' and watch you die." At this Kaisar lifted his spear from its target and it dissipated into nothing. He walked away coldly out of the room and made his eventual walk to his new workplace. Wyrm, he could tell, was sitting in his throne with a massive grin on his face, pleased with the way his new toys danced around their pitiful existences. * * * | |

| Chapter Three Kaisar shook himself. He needed something to do to pass time! Kaisar walked up to his computer. He sat there for hours searching through the vast databases of his laboratory to find some project that he never finished. His eyes danced with glee at the site of his soon-to-be new gadget. * * * A stout man in his forties came into Kaisar's laboratory. Kaisar had been working on his project for three months now, it was nearing completion. Annoyed at this interference, Kaisar twirled around with a surprising quickness. "What?!" he demanded. "Well, sir, the Supreme One has noticed your new pet project and wants you to keep up the good work, for he feels it will be integral in an upcoming battle he foresees," the man said, with obvious hate in his eyes. "Fine, fine," Kaisar dismissed him, "let me return to my work!" * * * Kaisar sat back from his work. The mech suit was marvelous! It was intricately designed, excellently equipped, and gorgeous. Far off he heard the alarm. He smiled to himself for it was yet again another time to field test a new gadget. * * * Kaisar was flying towards his targets at speeds near the sound barrier. He spied them on the other side of the battlefield, separated from the troops they commanded. The suit made a heavy thunk as Kaisar landed in front of the group of six adventurers. He materialized his spear and rushed forward yelling a battle cry. The one he first met blades with was a man who looked like he had just come of age with long blue hair. They exchanged blows for ten minutes, then Kaisar jumped back for one of their party, a female wielding two blades, leapt at him from the side. Even more invigorated by the adrenaline rush of combat, Kaisar materialized another spear longer than the first. A large man carrying huge axe brought down his cruel blade on Kaisar, but he blocked it with his shorter spear; it broke in two. Next, another woman rushed towards him, this one using two katars as weapons. Soon their healer started flinging his deadly projectiles at him. Kaisar, becoming more enraged, flew back away from them. He rested while they closed in the large new gap he created between them. Laughing maliciously, Kaisar grabbed part of the mech suit's chest plate and held it as a gun towards the party. "Witness the gorgeous beauty of my," Kaisar paused while the gun began to gather particles of mana, "Mana!" the gun fired a massive beam whilst he yelled, "Cannon!" Believing that his foes were vanquished, Kaisar flew back to his lab. He noticed that all was not in its right place. Fearing the tampering of his experiments, he pulled up the security cameras. The screen before him displayed the love of his life, Illia, who was with child. He always proudly imagined his future as a father. Glasgov entered into the screen. Wait, no it is not Glasgov. It seems to be Vogsalg. Kaisar's face whitened as Vogsalg took a large blade and pierced Illia through the chest. He heard Vogsalg mutter something about Kaisar himself getting in too deep. Filled with rage, Kaisar flew to Glasgov/Vogsalg's quarters. He did not have to go far, for he met him halfway. Immediately, Kaisar began to charge his Mana Cannon. Vogsalg seemed to do the same. Something was wrong though, for Vogsalg seemed to possess more mana than we he fought X. Was he going easy on X?! "You are a hindrance to our plans!" yelled Vogsalg menacingly. "Curse you!" Kaisar rebuked, "I'll send you down to hell!" They both fire their attacks. When the two beams of mana collided, they seemed to be at a standstill. However, Vogsalg's beam seared through Kaisar's own. He had barely enough time to throw down his all-purpose energy shield. Not quick enough, for the field had barely opened when the beam hit him. While the field had managed to protect his legs, torso, and head from the beam, his arms were disintegrated off. Kaisar, knowing defeat, flew off towards the mountains. He did not go slow, for he channeled all of the suit's power to the thrusters, and he broke the sound barrier. * * * | |
