Arena Battles
These are rules written for the Arena. Within, quick battles occur between two or more members without the need for an accompanying story. This area is for members seeking action without long-term involvement.
Player Rules
I. Do not control characters that do not belong to you.
II. Players can limit the number of characters involved if they so choose, but all participants must post once before any player's second post.
III. Players may also set a limit on posts. For example, each player may have only ten posts with which to complete the battle.
IV. Players may also set a time limit. For example, the battle must be finished within one week. If it runs long, the player to last post wins. However, if one or more participants are unable to post for reasons beyond their control, they may inform the other participants as such, and the battle will be put on hold.
V. No posts may be edited after another player has responded.
VI. One or more judges may be nominated by the participants to declare the winner. The winner will then write a fatality post.
VII. Once the battle is finished, spectators may give their opinions. However, only participants may post until then with the exception of the judges, who will post once the requirements for completion are met or the participants unanimously decide.
Judging Rules
I. Upon accepting a request to judge a match, judges must understand that they are taking on the responsibility to read every post in the fight, and to judge thoughtfully and fairly.
II. Judges will mark players out of 100 with 25 points allocated to each of the following criterion:
Creativity: Descriptiveness, uniqueness, format.
Grammar and Spelling: Spelling of words, proper use of words, punctuation, and other symbol use.
Clarity: How easy it was to understand the writer in terms of paragraphing and communicative wording.
Conduct: Respect for the rules, respect for other players, general flow of posts.
III. Judges will present their scores with feedback to each writer on each different criterion. This is so that the writer may improve, and the general standard of our role play moves upward.
IV. When the judges have finished giving their feedback, other readers may 'appeal' as long as they can sufficiently describe their query and back themselves up. The query will be dealt with by everyone, and if no conclusion can be reached, a re-judging will occur.
V. If a re-judging occurs, more judges must be selected than were nominated the first time. The new judges will judge in the same way as the original judges, and then all of the scores will be added together to determine a winner.
